Wenatchee, WA – The fifth annual Numerica Credit Union’s Winter Ice Gala is packed with star performers set in an elegant atmosphere.  Professional figure skating pairs, Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentre will awe the crowd. Other local dancers, pianists, and entertainers will add to the mix. The unique, formal dinner and ice show is held in the main arena and guests are seated on the covered ice! The event raises funds for the Arena Youth Enrichment fund held at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. Over 200 guests will enjoy the fifth annual Numerica’s Winter Ice Gala on Friday, January 27, 6:00 p.m. at the Town Toyota Center. 

The main entrance will be transformed into a festive white wonderland with sheer custom-made trees, a white baby grand piano (on loan from our friends at the Numerica Performing Arts Center) and exquisite lighting designed by set professional, Don Fox.  Guests will be able to sip on champagne and sample hors d’ oeuvres of brei & cranberry filo cups, potato cakes topped with crème fraiche smoked trout and mini spanakopita.

At 7:00 p.m., guests will be escorted into the main arena where tables will be fully dressed and set on decked ice to allow enough space for skating in the center of the arena.  The formal dinner will include roasted beef tenderloin medallions and prawns created by Town Toyota Center’s in-house food and beverage executive chef, Jodi Riggles, Beyond Creations Catering.  All guests will receive a white Numerica Credit Union fleece blanket at each seat. For their beverage pleasure, the martini shaped ice sculpture displayed in the full bar is always a hit.

After dinner, a professional ice show coupled with some of the region’s best vocalists and musicans will perform.  Spectators will see a bit of a hockey shots and turns this year as well as a featured video, “The day and life of a hockey player”.  Plus, guests will have the opportunity to sponsor an ice skating helmet and/or learn to skate helper.

The show emceed by the arena’s general manager, Mark Miller and KVEW-TV’s Good Morning News Anchor, Jade Redinger will keep the show moving along.  Along with former Stars on Ice professional figure skaters, Kim Navarro and Brent Bommentresponsored by Moss Adams, LLC, Waddell & Reed, Fabulous Feet, and Real Homes.,  Miss Washington 2017, Alicia Cooper will have a vocal performance and Miss East Cascades, Brianna Eddy, a master pianist will perform, “White Water Chopsticks”, and Fabulous Feet dancers.  Special guests include select numbers from Wenatchee Figure Skating Club and fan favorite, the Wenatchee Wild Walt are sponsored by McDonalds, Puget Sound Energy, and ConfluenceHealth.

The purpose of Numerica Credit Union’s Winter Ice Gala is to showcase the arena and raise funds for the Arena Youth Enrichment Fund (AYEF) held by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington.  The AYEF committee members, Julie Norton (Ogden, Murphy & Wallace), Randy Agnew (Wolven), Christine Barros (Town Toyota), Tony Freytag (CrunchPak), and Janet McNeilly (Numerica) will speak on the impact of the grant. The fund was established in 2012 to provide youth the opportunity to Learn to Skate and/or attend a show who might not otherwise be able to afford to do so. In the past 4 years, over $46,000 awarded to area schools and non-profits benefiting hundreds students.

To pledge support for the Arena Youth Enrichment Fund, guests can atttend the Winter Ice Gala.

The guests of the Winter Ice Gala pledged over $46,000 since inception to provide aid for students ice skate or attend a show. In the past four years, the fund has distributed grant money to area schools or non-profit organizations.  The result of the fund is as follows: Wenatchee School District established an on-going after school Learn to Skate program in addition to other classrooms and non-profit organizations. The fund provided Children’s Home Society of Washington skating time, Rock Island 2nd graders, Mariarchi Wenatchee students the opportunity to attend a show, the Wenatchee School District’s After-School program, will benefit over 60 students at Columbia Elementary, Mission View Elementary, Orchard Middle School and Pioneer Middle School, CASA kids, Chelan School District, Orondo School District, Rock Island School District, and many more local clubs and youth organizations the opportunity to use ice time and skate.

The eligible applicants are schools and/or non-profit organizations that support youth and enrichment activities. All applicants must reside within the Public Facilities District of the Greater Wenatchee Regional Events center in the incorporated areas of Chelan and Douglas counties and/or the cities of Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Chelan, Rock Island, and Entiat, and must serve underprivileged needs of youth or schools.
