In the past eight years since inception, the tournament has grown from a six teams to over 14 teams this year. “We had a waiting list of teams wanting to play and had to turn down several teams due to limited availability of ice times because of multiple events happening on rink A at the Town Toyota Center over the weekend,” states Kelli Canterbury, Communication Coordinator for the Wenatchee Banshees Hockey. “However, this tournament is meant to be a bit smaller than our November tournament which hosts over 28 teams from around the West coast and Canada,” adds Canterbury. Women’s hockey has increased in participation over the past few years. Currently, on the Banchee team alone, women are between the ages of 14 to 59 years of age.

The other events this weekend at the Town Toyota Center include: The Wenatchee Wild versus Topeka on Friday, February 24, and Saturday night, February 25, Stars on Ice on Sunday, February 26 and Harlem Globetrotters on Monday, February 27. There will be non-stop action on both rinks during the four days.
The public is welcome to watch the Kiss My Ice Women’s Hockey tournament at no charge throughout the weekend.
