NUMERICA CREDIT UNION'S WINTER ICE GALA IS CLASS

Wenatchee, WA – The third annual Numerica Credit Union’s Winter Ice Gala is the only inimate and formal affair held at the Town Toyota Center this season. The unique, formal dinner and ice show is held in the main arena and guests are seated on the covered ice! The event raises funds for the Arena Youth Enrichment fund held at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. Over 200 guests will enjoy the 3nd annual Winter Ice Gala on Friday, February 20, 6:00 p.m. at the Town Toyota Center.  This is brings world-class stars and some of the areas finests performers held in a spectacular setting.
 
The entrance of the arena will be elegantly decorated with dozens of lights and candles, birch trees, and a custom-made ice bar from Creative Ice welcoming guests as they enter the building. Glen Isaacson & Friends, a string trio, will play as guests sip on local wines and sample hors d’ oeuvres of puff pastry with stilton, candied walnuts and honey and new potatoes with crème fraiche and golden cavier.
 
At 7:00 p.m., guests will be escorted into the main arena where tables will be fully dressed and set on decked ice to allow enough space for skating in the center of the arena.  The formal dinner will include beef wellington, vichy carrots and whipped yukon gold potatoes with local wines from Jones of Washington, Ryan Patrick, Cave B and Benson winery will be available. The ice martini sculpture and full bar are featured pieces of the design atmosphere.
 
After dinner, a spectacular ice show coupled with some of the region’s best vocalist and musicans will perform.  Special guests include Miss Washington 2014, Kailee Dunn, will welcome the show and later sing "Someone Like You" from Jekyll & Hyde.  The ice show, directed by former Disney on Ice professional and Town Toyota Center Skating Director, Louise Kapeikis, will begin as guests are seated only inches away from the ice!  The show will feature U.S. Figure Skating Champion, Ryan Bradley sponsored by Brazeau Orthodontics, D.A. Davidson and Moss Adams, LLP.  Bradley placed 1st in the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, a Stars on Ice cast member, commentor for Universal Sports, Sun Valley On Ice performer, and featured on an ABC televised @DissonSkating specials.  In addition to Ryan Bradley, the show will feature Ice Dance pair skaters, Jean-Luc Baker & Kaitlin Hawayek, 2014 Junior World Champions. Most recently, they won the Senior Grand Prix Series, NHK Trophy Bronze Medal.  Other club soloists include, Kaela Kapeikis, professional instructor, Senior skater and Disney on Ice hopeful. Kaela placed 4th, winning the Pewter medal, at the USFS National Showcase competition in Burbank, California. Additional soloists are Danika Kapeikis, Teka Parks and Alana Collins, who are all long-time skaters with the club, in addition to group numbers from the Wenatchee Figure Skating Club sponsored by Puget Sound Energy and DAC Consulting, and Miss East Cascades 2014, Ashley Lowers.
                                                                               
The purpose of Numerica Credit Union’s Winter Ice Gala is to showcase the arena and raise funds for the Arena Youth Enrichment Fund held by the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. Executive Director, Beth Stipe of the Community Foundation, will speak about the fund and ask for pledges during the evening. The fund was established in 2012 to provide youth the opportunity to Learn to Skate and/or attend a show who might not otherwise be able to afford to do so. In the past 18 months, over $29,000 was awarded to area schools and non-profits benefiting hundreds students. Recently, after-school students within Wenatchee School District have used the funds to learn to skate. In addition, Chelan Schools, Rock Island, Orondo, Cashmere and several other non-profits organizatins have accessed the fund. There are many schools are using the funds to skate as a mentoring program or rewards program to benefit the learning environment. The ice skating allows students “to engage all students to higher levels of learning through positive support, growth mindset, and perservance” stated Brian Flones, Superintendent of Wenatchee School District.
 
To pledge support for the Youth Enrichment fund, guests can attend the Winter Ice Gala.

ABOUT THE ARENA YOUTH ENRICHMENT FUND:
The guests of the Winter Ice Gala pledged over $29,000 to provide aid for students to be present at the arena. In the past 18 months, the fund has distributed grant money to area schools or non-profit organizations. The fund provided Children’s Home Society of Washington skating time, Rock Island 2nd graders, Mariarchi Wenatchee students the opportunity to attend a show, the Wenatchee School District’s After-School program, will benefit over 60 students at Columbia Elementary, Mission View Elementary, Orchard Middle School and Pioneer Middle School, CASA kids and many more.
 
The eligible applicants are schools and/or non-profit organizations that support youth and enrichment activities are applicants must reside within the Public Facilities District of the Greater Wenatchee Regional Events center in the incorporated areas of Chelan and Douglas counties and/or the cities of Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, Cashmere, Chelan, Rock Island, and Entiat, and must serve underprivileged needs of youth or schools.
